What is Moonlight Fantasy? Briefly stated, it’s an orchestrated version of the First Movement of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata #14 (Moonlight Sonata) with tenor voice and male and female choruses. Moonlight Fantasy was created by Stuart Gustafson, using Beethoven’s score as its inspiration and foundation. The work is registered with ASCAP, and the lyrics have been copyrighted with the United States Copyright Office.
Who doesn’t love Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata? Click the right arrow below to play that First Movement. Listen and feel the six minutes and 29 seconds (plus or minus, depending on the pianist) of soft rhythmic motion that gets us swaying back and forth, or to and fro. It’s pretty special, isn’t it?
If you’re a musician, or any other type of artist, you know all to well that creating, editing, producing, and distributing a new work is time consuming and costly. I’ve already spent A LOT of time, and money, on this work. As I listen to the the sonata above, I hear the words that I’ve written: the tenor solo as well as the occasional background vocals.
After taking a long break (covid pandemic and wife’s Alzheimer’s Disease), I’m now ready to take the music through the next steps (and that’s where I can use your support):
- Professional Orchestration
- Creation of scores for Conductor and Performers
- Initial performance, recording, and CD production
- Live Premiere Performance
- Marketing and Publicity
That’s why I’ve started a KickStarter crowdfunding campaign. It’s an “all or nothing” campaign. If I don’t reach my goal, I get zero and you pay nothing!
